Soldiers of '44
This is a very readable and great novel of real warriors vs all their enemies on all sides (theirs and ours) told via the historical stage of The Battle of the Bulge. While classic warrior vs remf, it is also a detailed look at the field soldier of that era, wonderful character studies rather than the usual WWI stereotype soldiers. From all I heard from my uncles and family friends who were 'there' this rings all true, and hence it is a great listen. You will continue to listen when you should be sleeping to see what happens next. The writer is talented. His approach is unique. You have to scramble to be sure it is a novel...not someone's real life memory. Obviously, it is a panorama of real memories.
